MOLESTATION LAWSUIT INVOLVING PRIEST SETTLED

Also announced Tuesday was a $785,000 settlement against another Hartford Archdiocese priest, Daniel McSheffrey, who was accused of orally and anally raping a teenage boy, beginning in 1986. The abuse is alleged to have occurred for several years.

According to the complaint, McSheffrey was a priest at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in North Branford when the abuse began.

The settlement with the archdiocese occurred in November, but the plaintiff's New Haven lawyer, Joel T. Faxon, released it on Tuesday.

Like Foley, McSheffrey has been the subject of numerous lawsuits against the archdiocese in the past several years. Faxon's last case involving McSheffrey, who lives in Florida and no longer functions as a priest, was settled for $1.6 million.
