How to use Community Builder

  • This blog is all about getting into the life of our state. The Hipster's calendar has the coolest events coming up in the next month. The "Do it Now!" section is about volunteering your time right now. Just point and click. And the Cheat Sheet keeps you current with our top local color stories of the week. So forget about law for a while, life is good.

  • Common Ground is a three-for-one: an experiment in urban farming, an environmental education center and a high school. The 20-acre on-campus laboratory houses that urban demonstration farm and gets students working with the earth, learning about sustainability, community building and environmental issues. As Connecticut’s only environmentally focused charter school, Common Ground is open to the larger community—from elementary and middle-school children to other nonprofits. More than 8,000 people took advantage of the New Haven gem last year. Common Ground throws birthday parties, provides after school programming and hosts field trips and a summer ecology camp. And they grew—count ‘em—7,000 pounds of healthy, local produce in that humble 20-acre plot!
