Uma is a New Haven-based journalist using print, sound and photography to tell stories about community,  culture and innovation in Connecticut. Before settling in the Elm City, she worked as a human rights researcher and freelance journalist for a number of years in West and Central Africa. Uma holds an undergraduate degree in Public Relations and Political Science from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Religion and African Studies from Yale University.
